Mark Halliwell is the lead Hunter / Jumper Instructor at Richmond Stables:
Mark has 23 years in the sport. After success as a junior catch rider, mark went pro at 18 years old. He then competed on the A-circuit in Hunters and Jumpers, from the Baby Greens Hunters up to the 1.45M Jumpers. He has ridden with some of the top trainers in BC and California, and has been fortunate enough to campaign throughout the US. Mark has had great success preparing young horses for their future careers, and preparing amateur horses for the riders.
Mark has been honing his enthusiastic teaching style for nearly two decades. He believes that, regardless of discipline, a good ride and success in the show ring comes from hard work and a solid understanding of the basics. A solid foundation allows for proper communication between horse and rider. Clear communication creates relaxed horses and riders, and this leads to success, whether it be in the ring, at home or on the trail.
